ABOUT WHEEL HORSE TIRES
Wheel Horse started in South Bend, Indiana in 1946 and built garden tractors with a reputation for being heavier and more rebuildable than the competition. AMC bought the company in 1974, then Toro picked it up in 1986; Toro retired the badge in 2007. The C-series 8-speeds — C-160, C-161, C-165 and the rest — are the machines collectors most often come to us looking for tires for, and they share an 8-inch front rim and 12-inch rear with the Cub Cadet IH-era and the John Deere 318.
Period-correct Wheel Horse restorations want a smooth or rib-tread front and a turf-pattern rear; the originals were Carlisle, but the rims are standard sizes and modern Kenda and Deestone equivalents bolt right on. If your model isn't the C-160 listed below, the same 16x6.50-8 front and 23x10.50-12 rear typically carry across the C-series — call us with the model number and we'll confirm before you buy.
