ABOUT CUB CADET TIRES
Cub Cadet splits into two audiences that don't overlap. International Harvester built the line from 1961 to 1981 — the cast-iron, hydrostatic Originals, Quietlines, and 1x00/1x50 garden tractors (the 1450 included) collectors still chase today — then sold the name to MTD in 1981. Shopping for an XT1, an RZT 50, or a modern Ultima zero-turn puts you in MTD-era territory; rebuilding a 122 or a 1450 with the red paint and cast-iron rear end is IH-era, and the tires, rim sizes, and parts conversation are all different.
The 1450 sits in the same small-rim cluster as the John Deere 318 and the Wheel Horse C-series — 16x6.50-8 fronts and 23x8.50-12 rears stock, with the wider 23x10.50-12 rear on some dealer-option machines. Carlisle was the factory tire on most IH-era Cubs (Turf Saver in 16x6.50-8 is still the closest look for a show machine); for working machines we stock Kenda and Deestone equivalents. On the modern side, the XT1 LT42 takes a 15x6-6 front and 20x8-8 rear, and the RZT 50's 13x5-6 Carlisle front casters are a known wear point — most owners end up replacing the whole assembly the second or third time around.
