OWNER NOTES
What we see with the RZT 50 around Cleveland.
The RZT 50 is one of the most-asked-about Cub Cadet zero-turns we get tire questions on around Northeast Ohio. The base model runs 11x4.00-5 caster fronts and 18x9.50-8 drive rears across the 2007–2014 span. One trim catch: the Kawasaki-powered RZT 50 KH moves the front to a 13x5.00-6 — thirty seconds reading the sidewall beats guessing from the model badge.
A few things owners tell us when they call:
- The rears wear faster than the fronts. That's normal on a ZTR — the rear wheels both drive and skid-steer, and the fronts are casters that mostly just roll. Replacing rears one or two seasons before fronts is typical.
- If you're cutting brush, locust thorns, or anything else that punches through a 2-ply front, stepping the front to a 4-ply is the common upgrade. Costs a few dollars more per tire and lasts longer in those conditions.
- On hill yards, the stock turf rear holds up but a 6-ply rear carries the deck weight better. Owners running the deck loaded with a bagger or hauling a small lawn cart usually move up to the 6-ply.
If it's in stock and your order is placed by 2 PM ET, it usually goes out the same business day — and within one business day either way.
UPGRADE OPTIONS
When the OEM isn't the right answer.
3 common situations + the tires we recommend instead.
FOR THE KH TRIM
The Kawasaki-powered RZT 50 KH runs a 13x5.00-6 front instead of the base 11x4.00-5 — and that KH front size is on our shelf. Read the sidewall before ordering fronts for this machine.
FOR HILL YARDS
On steep slopes the stock rear holds up but flexes under loaded decks. A 6-ply rear in the same 18x9.50-8 size carries the weight better and shows less sidewall wear over a season.
FOR HEAVY COMMERCIAL USE
Crews running these machines five days a week through the season scrub through stock turf rears faster than residential owners. A commercial-grade 6-ply turf in the 18x9.50-8 rear size is the common upgrade — same rim, longer service life under steady use.
