About this tire
The Deestone D401 is a 6.00-16 front tractor tire with the classic three-rib F-2 tread. The center ribs track straight and let the front wheels steer with less wander, which is what you want on a two-wheel-drive tractor doing field work or pulling implements. This is the size most older utility tractors run up front.
It is built to 6-ply (Load Range C) and carries up to 1,140 lbs per tire at rated pressure, with a 29.1 inch overall diameter and 6.3 inch section width. Tread depth is 25/32. If your current front tire is a 2, 4, or 6 ply in this size, this 6-ply works as a replacement. It mounts on a 16x4 rim and is tube-type — the matching inner tube is included with this purchase.
The narrow rib design is made for steering and soft ground, not for load-hauling or rough pavement. Ribbed fronts ride firm on hard surfaces and the thin contact patch wears faster if you spend a lot of time on road. For its job on the front axle, it holds a line well.
